Falloch - Where Distant Spirits Remain [2011]

Falloch was formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 2010 by Andy Marshall and Scott McLean. After playing together in previous bands, they found they had a common desire to create music which conveys atmosphere and emotion through a wide variety of styles including Metal, Post-Rock and Folk inspired by the atmosphere of bands such as Alcest, Agalloch and Primordial, as well as minimalist composers such as Yann Tiersen and Arvo Part. The lyrics focus around the themes of nostalgia, sorrow, nature and longing. Having a deep connection with the Scottish landscape, the band took their name from the Falls of Falloch waterfall in Crianlarich. They started recording their debut album 'Where Distant Spirits Remain' in 2010. Upon completion they managed to secure legendary producer Ronan Chris Murphy (Ulver, King Crimson etc.) to master the album in early 2011, with the chance to sign to the revered Candlelight Records shortly after. With the release of the album in summer 2011 Falloch are looking to have a full-line up so as to bring their music to the live stage. Scott commented on the chance to sign with Candlelight Records saying;
'We are extremely happy to be offered this chance to sign with such a well respected label, which throughout its many years has had so many influential albums/bands on it's roster. From the classic albums from Emperor and the early albums of Opeth right through to new exciting acts such as Altar of Plagues and Winterfylleth. We are looking forward to releasing our debut album through Candlelight, who are known for bringing through many new and talented bands to the forefront of the metal scene. We hope to become a strong part of the Candlelight family and look forward to great things in the future.'
