The third album (and second released on Southern Lord) from the grimm Cascadia black metal horde: Wolves In The Throne Room. Black Cascade further solidifies their death like grip on the jewel throne of American Black Metal. Blazing and crystalline Metal riffs slowly collapse and shift into ritualistic dirges that invoke endless rain falling upon the ancient cedars of the pacific North West. It is as if the instruments are controlled by shadowy and elemental forces of nature rather than three forest-dwellers from Olympia,WA. "Black Cascade" blazes down a slightly different path than the recently released "Malevolent Grain" EP. This album bleeds with a much more primal, raw and aggressive aesthetic than anything the band has done before.
