A Storm of Light is a band from Brooklyn, New York, United States which is sometimes referred to as post-metal. Critic Leech has described them as “doom metal / post-rock”. A Storm of Light, was started in 2007 by Josh Graham, who has been a longtime visual collaborator of the band Neurosis. Josh left the group Red Sparowes, of which he was a founding member to focus on Storm.

The end of times is a concept that’s been with mankind since he first began daubing blood and ash on cave walls, and now Brooklyn’s heaviest of hitters A Storm of Light are picking up the baton with their latest masterpiece, “Forgive Us Our Trespasses.”

The band have already proven themselves master storytellers, their acclaimed 2008 debut “And We Wept the Black Ocean Within” sending shockwaves through the avant metal underground with its bracken-draped tales of seafaring woe and this year’s “Primitive North” collaboration with Nadja cementing their status as leading lights in the ever-shifting realms of metal’s experimental fringes.
Introduce yourself to the readers!

P: I'm P. I do vocals and lyrics for Force Fed Life.

'd': How do you record? Are you the only one involved

P: Actually it is a bit funny how i record. I am the only one involved with recording my parts in the songs however i believe D.H. will be mixing my vocals on the next songs we release. But i say it is funny how i record because i just use the free software
Audacity and my Turtle Beach Xbox headset haha.

That's actually pretty common nowadays, but I personally like FFL more than any regular bedroom black metal band How about your ideological views and / or beliefs?

Thanks a lot! As for my ideological views and beliefs i really have none. I have lost all faith in any form of politics and religion is something i truly hate. Very few things i "hate" but religion is one of them. Oh, and cigarettes...i do believe in them haha

Haha, so you're a smoker? I can see that your band is too dealing with the themes of suicide, depression and is, basically, of self-destructive nature. Don't you think it's getting a bit old? Aren't there too much bands with the same themes?

Unfortunately I must say yes. I remember when DSBM and the like was something special..I'm not trying to say that all these bands are fakes or anything but i do think that the scene has just become overflown with bands and new ones seem to come every day. Could be good or could be bad. I certainly don't want to discourage anyone from making this style of music if it is truly in their heart, but if they are fake then just fuck off and find somethi… Все

Now that you've mentioned masks, your track ''Drug Mask'', what's it about? When is it going to be officially released?

I guess the best way to answer this would be to first provide some back story. About a year ago i got heavy into drugs. Marijuana, that new synthetic stuff "spice", Salvia, "Bathsalts" which is like a legal form of Cocaine. I would do at least one of these every night usually and used it as a way for me to hide from my fucked up thoughts and to escape from the reality i was in. I hid behind the drugs so i could face the next day. This period of m… Все

It's really awesome when you can put real emotions in a song, and you seem to do a very good job! Okay, now, two easier questions (probably): Q 1: If you could release on any label would you keep it underground or make it huge? 2: Name three artists with whom you would play or collaborate in any possible way.

Yes I try. Another way i tend to do that is by not writing lyrics. Just going into a song with an idea of what to sing about and then just saying what comes to mind. This is very prevalent in a new song called "To K." Now if i could release on any label it would still be an underground label. Maybe SMS or Funeral Industries would be the biggest i would go. For now though I am happy with Depressive Illusions. If i did ever release on a different l… Все

It seems that a lot of artists trust Sergiy with their tapes, haha! Ever dreamed of playing live? Any chance we'll see your band with a full line-up performing gigs?

Actually possibly. I am looking on putting a show together in mid 2012 where I'll fly D.H. down and find a drummer and getting Count Shannath, Nihilistic Misanthropy, and Black Hate
possibly another band with a good friend of mine in it...

Meh, I wish I was in the USA... How about new releases? You seem like a band which takes it slow.

We do tend to but D.H. has been busy this weekend and we already have 2 new songs and the 3 for the Moloch/P4/Empty Tears split are done too. One of these new songs will be put on the split with Faulen, Nostalgia, and Dolor. The other will either go on our split with Count Shannath, the "secret" split, or the Full Length. I don't plan on doing anymore splits till we complete a full length. I have been doing FFL for nearly 2 years and nearly 1 wit… Все

Would you like unlimited copies of your releases?

I don't know. I think it would make me feel accomplished but i really just like the thought of having limited releases. It makes it unique for the fan who buys it. It adds incentive to buy the album too instead of just downloading it for free. Not that I am opposed to downloading for free because i give away most of my physical copies and so far i have uploaded all of our releases to mediafire for free download, but if it is a split then I only upload our songs. It is not my place to upload other artists' work. I don't care about money just art. To answer your question more accurately though I prefer limited releases. They are special.

Good to know that some bands still don't record for profit! I've also seen you've been doing some session work for Deep-pression. Tell us something about that.

Yes I do under the name N. this is an inside joke between Rh- and I. Yeah though, I have been a fan of DP for a long time and got into contact with Rh- probably a year ago or so and we just hit it off. He also did the art for the FFL demo "Reminiscent Nostalgia". One day he asked me if I would want to do vocals for some songs so of course i said yes! haha 3 of the 4 songs i have done are currently available for free download on their bandcamp. the album is s split between DP and Zone113 called "The Lost Trainstation" i did vocals for "Quintessence", "Suck!", and "Empty Windows Stare". I also did vocals for "A Mountain That Killed Many" but that song hasn't been released yet. I plan to do more songs with DP in the future so i guess keep an eye out for that if you are interested.

I most certainly will! Any side-projects of your own you would like to talk about?

I do Drone/Industrial Noise under the name UNIT-7193, and i play keyboards in a Synthpop/EBM band here locally called Black Tar Heroine. We are working on getting signed to Metropolis Records but we have a ways to go for that. haha not that im trying to go against what i said about big labels earlier it is just different what i want for FFL and what i want for BTH.
BTH also has a bit of Harsh EBM influence as well.

I advise our readers to check those out too! I've heard your ''Darknet'' track, and it's awesome!

Okay, thanks for your time and for your answers! Any last words?

Thanks haha and just thanks for listening and keep well. Regards...time for a cigarette haha'distant'http://www.blogger.com/profile/14977898437467475072noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874784936965884408.post-25195706543758134322015-11-07T17:23:00.001+01:002015-11-07T17:23:47.460+01:00Interview with Monde Céleste frontman, Celeste.

I got in touch with Celeste, the only man in the band and asked him a couple of questions:

<span style="background-color: white; color: rgb(51 , 51 , 51); font-family: "lucida grande" , "tahoma" , "verdana" , "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 11px; line-height: 14px;">

But the music you mentioned is really good, which reminds me, do you get support from local bands?

Celeste: Support and support... I know the guys who work with music in my town rather well (the members in the death metal band Erupted who recently signed to Abyss for example, take a listen to them!).

To be honest, I've never really liked metalheads, I think it's ridiculous to jump around and hurt each other on a show. I'm there to see a band and listen to music I enjoy, assholes!

Celeste: No, I'm not, and I don't want to be signed on a specific label, even though I would like a label to release my music, but just a few copies. 40-60 copies would be perfect.

I'm involved in various extreme musical projects, comprised of myself and myself only or other colleagues. I've been playing/writing/recording music since I was around 9 years old. Of course, not all of those years were spent on extreme projects. That didn't really begin until 2004/2005.

2. 'd': First there were two, Gromolalian Assaults and Glossolalia. What made you quit Gromolalian Assaults?

K: Gromolalian Assaults was initially created as a platform for all Gromkult releases, but as time went on, certain parties expressed interest in being involved with it and I couldn't keep it separate from Glossolalia Records any longer. People around the web started taking notice of Gromkult and the members (including myself) decided to approach the music much more seriously. We were always serious about the music but never took much time for lyrics or concepts. That has changed. Ultimately, I closed Gromolalian Assaults because I woke up one morning and realized that it was pointless to run two different labels that released basically the exact same kind of music. 3. 'd': Tell us something about Glossolalia records. When was it created? K: I founded it in March of this year (2011) because I noticed that there were a lot of projects in my home town/state that were not getting the attention that I thought they deserved. It's been bumpy and there have been what seems like a thousand obstacles to overcome, but it's been worth it. Times are tough and money, what little there is of it, must be spent wisely. I've never made a cent off the label. Every dollar I make in profit goes right back into the label for more releases. 4.'d': What was your first release? Was it physical? Do you do physical releases at all? K: Our first release was the self-titled Terra Deep demo, raw melodic black metal. It's true, we do more digital releases than physical, and there are a couple of reasons for that. Firstly, when the label was founded I could only really afford pro CD-R, which is dirt cheap. Secondly, the CD is a dying media format. I know that I personally don't buy replicated CDs, no matter how much I like the band, and at this point in history, it's so much more cost effective to release CD-Rs/pro CD-Rs that you don't have to sell for 10,000,000€. I'm making a slow transition to offering more cassette releases than anything else, and 2012 will see Glossolalia unleash quite a few tapes onto the unsuspecting (and apathetic) public.

As for our digital releases, both exclusives and distros, we offer them because we realize that most fans of extreme or avant-garde music are like us: they like to test the waters, to sample music. In addition to that, I have my own opinions about the costlessness of art and the ramifications of commodifying it, but that's another conversation. 5. 'd': Which genres does Glossolalia specialize in? How do you feel about post-rock, shoegaze, DSBM... stuff like that?

There are some incredible bands in those branches of black metal (Thy Light, Abyssic Hate, ColdWorld, I Shalt Become, Anti, Xasthur). I love both post-rock and shoegaze. This Will Destroy You do a great job of integrating post-rock into their epic, heavy-as-fuck rock sound. Last year's albums from Sailors With Wax Wings and Pyramids were two of my favorites. I shouldn't go on too long in this vein, though, because I'll probably end up sounding like a know-nothing idiot. Black metal is my primary focus, but I have plenty of close friends that recommend atmospheric non-metal projects that they think I might like, and hey, they're usually right. Like this year's Kauan album. Absolutely incredible and gutwrenching. 6. 'd': I'm aware that you have quite a lot of your own projects.
